a sad and miserable parody of a dragon’s hoard

6th Prairial 148

Roll call:
Komrad Torgrim
Gilles Rocquefort
Alick
with retainers: Thimin and Rewith

We make a beeline for the westernmost entrance at the back of the canyon.  We peer into the darkness. A wall to the north is covered is names of those who have not returned. On the south wall, insults in the Kobold language. In the middle of the room, a spiral staircase descends into darkness. We descend and explore.

At the bottom of a pit, we find about 107 SP. Gilles stows it away in a sack.

We hear a whooshing sound behind a door. It’s all noise and bluster.

We find a mosaic of imps getting up to naughtiness. Very scandalous.

We find a sign, “Da Dragon’s Den”!

We run into a kobold! And then some more kobolds! Gilles beguiles them with song! Their friends don’t like how I’ve charmed them, so I stop playing. They just want to get past us with their bat guano, so we let them go. One who liked my playing says, “If you’re ever down in the marketplace, check out Kogre!”

“I shall delight you with my repertoire!”

“Heh! Yeah! You’ll delight me alright!”

I’m not sure if it’s a compliment or a threat.

Further in, a giant gecko leaps from the ceiling, all bitey-like! Poor Rewith is dispatched! Gilles kills it with an arrow to the eye!

In its cave, we find a stack of coins in “a sad and miserable parody of a dragon’s hoard”. It consists of 800 CP and a fancy circlet. We leave behind the 800 CP. Alick leaves messages on the cave walls in chalk pointing to the “treasure”.

In another room, a hole in the floor. It is formed with bricks, like a well, but flush with the floor, about 60 feet deep.

We come upon stone doors. They are very imposing.

Some orcs find us! I beguile a couple of them with song, but the rest get surly. They demand a “toll”. We refuse and violence happens. We shoot down the leader and the rest of them run! We loot the dead orc for 6 sp.

We collect Rewith’s body and go home.

The circlet turns out to be worth 1100 GP!!!
